2023 SUMMER LEARNING CAMPS
Here are a few reminders and important details to help you get ready for the first day!
2023 Wilson Summer Learning Camp will begin Tuesday, June 13th 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Please arrive a little early on Tuesday (not before 8:30, please) for sign-in at the location you signed up for at registration. The first day takes a little bit longer. We will organize students into their teacher groups and go over the sign-in/sign-out procedures. Please make note of your child’s group number below to look for upon arrival. Lists will also be available at check-in. We ask that you provide us with any important information about your child at this time if you haven’t done so already: transportation, allergies, special instructions, etc.
When dropping off your child, please drive slowly and watch for other children on foot. It is a little hectic with how small of a drop-off space there is at the playground pavilion. We ask that you drop off and continue driving forward through the neighborhood. It is a little dangerous when parents drop off and attempt to make a U-turn to exit the same way. We really appreciate your cooperation!
What to bring: Beach Towel, Book, Water Bottle, Snack
Please apply sunscreen prior to arrival each day
Each student will be provided with a drawstring bag and a few supplies. Please remember to send your child with their bag daily. They will use their supplies for various activities.
Weather Alerts and Information/Reminders:
This year will be using the BAND to provide weather alerts and any other information. We will do our best to make a decision that is best for the safety of the students and teachers within 30 minutes or more of the arrival time. Please sign up to receive messages and up-to-date reminders. You can install the BAND app on your phone (there is also a QR code on the flyer to scan – we will have this available at the camp locations next week as well) or use the link below to sign up. The group is public, in case you need to pass it along to a babysitter or other family member. The group name is: WSD Summer Learning Camp. We will also post alerts on our social media accounts. If you are on Facebook or Instagram, follow Wilson Education Foundation.

2022 SUMMER LEARNING CAMPS A BIG SUCCESS!
WEF was proud to partner with the Wilson School District to offer Summer Learning Camps. The 6-week program was designed to keep academic skills sharp and help prevent the “summer slide” by engaging students over the summer months.
175 Wilson students entering grades 1st through 5th were able to take advantage of the program. Program Coordinator, Galen Newman, and the other staff are all Wilson teachers. With support from the Foundation, they worked together to create a fun curriculum that incorporated reading and writing activities with I-STEM experiences. Weekly themes included Nature, Motion & Energy, Chemistry, Music, and Engineering. Look for info about the 2023 Bulldog Summer Blast in January!#studentexperience
