This year, Mrs. Mattiuz’s class has been participating in an exciting program called NFeLementary! Each student drafts an NFL team and follows them throughout the season, learning about their players, stats, and standings in the league. After completing a social skills unit on conversations, Mrs. Mattiuz surprised the class with a special guest: Wilson alumni and former NFL quarterback Chad Henne! Students held a mock press conference where they asked him questions about his football career— and even got to try on his Super Bowl rings!

A collage of classroom photos featuring an elementary school visit from a guest speaker. In the top-left image, a young girl with glasses smiles while holding a championship-style ring. In the top-right, another girl stands in front of a backdrop with the Wilson School District “W” and bulldog logo, holding two large rings. In the center-left, the guest speaker—an adult man in a red flannel shirt—stands in front of a screen displaying logos for Wilson School District, the University of Michigan, and several NFL teams, with students seated and watching. In another classroom photo, he points to a projected image of football players while football jerseys and helmets are displayed on a table. In the bottom-left, the guest speaker poses with a smiling student in front of the Wilson backdrop. Additional images show students seated at desks, attentively listening, with the classroom decorated with posters, flags, and learning materials. A Wilson bulldog mascot logo appears in the bottom-right corner of the collage.
Last week, third graders at Shiloh Hills took part in an Entrepreneurship Seminar where they learned from five local business owners and asked thoughtful questions about their ideas and interests. These entrepreneurs generously shared their experiences and gave students a behind-the-scenes look at their work through demonstrations and photos of their finished products.

A huge thank you to Brandon Koyste from BLS Landscaping & Construction, Cara Dzurek from Tinsel & Twig, Corrine Dutt from May’s Sandwich Shop, Ron Schaeffer from AU Baseball Camps, and Kris Kurzweg from Fleetwood Auto Service. We appreciate your time and the inspiration you shared with our students! #WilsonSD

Students dove into the wonders of space through a cross-curricular science and ELA unit using TEL strategies. They researched planets, constellations, and star patterns, explored astronomy with the Star Lab, and created hands-on constellation models using cups and flashlights. After becoming “experts,” they taught younger students and strengthened their communication skills. They also interviewed NASA robotics engineer Jason Fugate, learning about real-world space missions and future career paths! #WilsonSD

Wilson High School Students, Julian and Lauren, spend their time at the nursing and rehab center helping residents with their technology, running activities, and simply sitting with them so they feel seen, supported, and included. They volunteer because they want to make a real impact during what can be a challenging part of someone's life.

They’ve watched technology brighten residents’ days in the simplest but most powerful ways allowing them to feel independent again. And while they’re there to help, the residents have taught them just as much—especially to treat every moment like a gift and to shift their mindset from “I have to” to “I get to.”

More than anything, they hope the residents walk away feeling valued, connected, and cared for. Thank you, Julian and Lauren, for the kindness and compassion you bring to our community. #WilsonSD

This month, AP Environmental Science students were able to be a part of a very unique learning experience. They were able to be a part of an electroshocking team where we collected and identified over 14 different species of fish in the local watershed. Using the data they collected, they were able to analyze the biodiversity of the streams and learn about different fish characteristics and adaptations! #WilsonSD

Mrs. Haymaker’s K–2 Autistic Support classroom has officially reopened the Quiet Corner Book Store! Students practiced their communication skills and built confidence by collecting books from staff, organizing the donations, and preparing the store for “opening day.”

Staff members stopped by to shop for new books, exchanging the tickets they earned for each donated book. It was a wonderful learning experience for students and a fun way to share the love of reading! #WilsonSD
