nterested i ? INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT Madison, McCrae, Senator Judy Schwank's Office a typical DAY AT MY INTERNSHIP LESSONS I’VE LEARNED contact wagste@share.wilsonsd.org Three times a week, I work from her district office in Muhlenberg. There, I write speeches for the Senator, letters of support for grants, citations, and more! Sometimes I create social media posts for her Instagram and Facebook accounts. Occasionally, I have the opportunity to step out of the office and represent the Senator at various outreach events, including community service operations, resource distributions, parades, and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. Whether it's composing remarks or directly interacting with constituents, every day is valuable. I have gained invaluable insight into the "behind-the-scenes" operations of an elected official's office and the intersection of governance and community service. Senator Schwank is the ultimate role model to look up to. Her presence is so graceful, and it is evident she cares deeply about the community she represents. Her genuine care for each and every constituent is something I hope to embody in my future career in politics. Senator Schwank proves that being a politician doesn't have to be nasty or corrupt. Leading with honesty and integrity will always prevail. It is the standard I aim for in my future career. Photo of girl standing next to professional women in capitol building of PA
nterested i ? INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT Kayla Brown, wilson public relations a typical DAY AT MY INTERNSHIP LESSONS I’VE LEARNED contact wagste@share.wilsonsd.org A typical day begins with meeting the social media coordinator to find out what I can create for her! This is typically followed by me creating digital posts for Wilson's social media and scheduling a time for them to be posted. In addition to this I am in charge of getting other posts such as Motivational Mondays! This allows me to connect with staff and students in the district! Along with these tasks, I work with the media interns to create videos for Wilson's social media! I am able to learn more about graphic design and what goes into professional social media posts! Throughout my internship I have learned many valuable lessons. One of those include the concept that good things aren’t just going to appear. You have to work hard in order to get the outcome you hoped for. In addition to this I have learned how important it is to have a good relationship with other people you are working with! It makes the experience so enjoyable and something to look forward to! photo of girl standing next to sign that says Wilson administration building
nterested i ? INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT Keagan Eisenhofer, I.B. Dickinson & Son's Crane Service a typical DAY AT MY INTERNSHIP LESSONS I’VE LEARNED contact wagste@share.wilsonsd.org A day at my internship starts with greeting everyone I pass, which always starts the day on a positive note. My tasks vary depending on the day—sometimes I go out to job sites with my advisor, Jeremy Dickinson, to see cranes and equipment in action, and other times I work back at the shop refinishing spreader beams used by the cranes. When I’m in the office, I listen in on job layouts and quotes. At the end of the day, I make sure to say thank you and goodbye before heading out. Through my internship, I have been able to learn many valuable lessons that will help with my future and even my life. For example, something as simple as communication has taught me a tremendous amount. Being able to be a good communicator allows everyone to stay in the loop and be able to minimize mistakes. Another lesson that is preparing me for my future is taking initiative. Meaning, when I finish what I was working on, I can go and ask if there is anything else that I can help with. Lastly, time management is a huge lesson since I have to make sure I get to work on time as well as balance my academics and athletics. photo of two people standing outside in front of a crane
nterested i ? INTERNSHIP SPOTLIGHT Alivia May, American Dental Solutions a typical DAY AT MY INTERNSHIP LESSONS I’VE LEARNED contact wagste@share.wilsonsd.org A typical day at my internship begins with putting on my gown and mask to help maintain a clean and safe environment. I help the hygienist by setting up the operatory and making sure everything is properly cleaned and ready for the patient. Once the room is prepared, I escort the patient to the operatory, seat them, and observe the hygienist during the cleaning. I also help with charting, writing notes, and entering information into the computer when needed. After each appointment, I clean, sanitize, and reset the room so it is ready for the next patient. During my internship, I learned many important lessons that helped prepare me for my future. One of the main skills I improved was communication. By working with a hygienist and helping patients every day in the office, I learned how to speak clearly, be respectful, and assist others when needed. I also learned new things each day and gained experience in the healthcare field. This internship helped prepare me for my goal of going into the medical field after high school. Overall, it helped me build better communication skills, confidence, and a basic understanding of working in healthcare. photo of two women who are wearing thin scrubs in a dental office

Before Winter break began, our 9th-grade Algebra 1 ISTEM students worked in teams to design and build a 3D physical model of the Mars surface using real elevation data. Students applied algebraic concepts such as slope, distance, and linear equations while integrating engineering design, scientific research, CAD modeling, CNC routing, and 3D printing.

This collaborative project was led by Mr. Wallence, Mr. Bright, and Mr. Howard, bringing together math, science, and engineering in an authentic learning experience. As part of the science integration, Mr. Bright enhanced the project by incorporating the StarLab, allowing students to explore planetary motion, space science, and Mars’ position in our solar system, further deepening their understanding of space exploration.

Together, this project encouraged students to think critically and creatively as engineers and scientists while demonstrating how mathematics connects to real-world applications and future exploration beyond Earth! #WilsonSD

The Winter Music Extravaganza and Talent Show made its exciting debut and is sure to become an annual Southern tradition. From tumbling to Tchaikovsky and chamber groups to cheer, students enjoyed a school-wide assembly featuring select music ensembles including The Southern Sinfonietta, Jazz Band, and Select Chorus, along with auditioned Talent Show performances from all three grade levels. The program showcased an impressive variety of talent, from choral numbers and colorguard to duets, dance, comedy, and even pointe choreography. It was a wonderful way to come together as a school community, celebrating the dedication and hard work of our performers as we head into Winter Break. Even the faculty joined in on the fun - check out the last picture to see what the teachers did! #WilsonSD
