Our middle schoolers took learning beyond the classroom! Students from Southern and West came together for Field and Stream Day, held on the grounds of West Middle School. Throughout the day, they explored a variety of outdoor activities that connected to skills and concepts they’ve been building all year.
It was great to see students trying new experiences, working together, and enjoying time outside with their classmates. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who made this memorable day possible! #WilsonSD

A few weeks ago, kindergarten classrooms at Cornwall Terrace welcomed four local businesses into their classrooms: Annabelle Bowers Photography, May’s Sandwich Shop, Acacia Flowers, and Chaz Logan from Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices.
Students learned about each career and took part in activities connected to each profession, giving them a fun and meaningful glimpse into the world of work right in their own community. A huge thank you to all of the local businesses who took the time to share their experiences and inspire our Bulldogs! #WilsonSD

Families from across the district came together for our ESL Spring Family Night and celebrated in an “Out of This World” way! Students and families had the chance to connect with one another, explore crafts and activities inspired by cultures from around the world, and learn the meaning behind each tradition. Our high school ESL students also volunteered throughout the evening, helping families at each station and making the event even more special. It was wonderful to see them giving back and connecting with younger students.
The evening was filled with music, laughter, pizza, ice cream, and unforgettable memories as we celebrated the diversity that makes our schools so special. #WilsonSD

In February, Mrs. Hemphill’s 3rd graders showed interest in learning more about the 2026 Winter Olympics! This inspired the creation of a cross-curricular mini research unit integrating reading, writing, social studies, and science concepts. Under the guidance of Kutztown student teacher Miss Molly Furman and Mrs. Hemphill, students worked collaboratively in small groups to explore a variety of subtopics related to six Olympic sports. As a culmination of their learning, students created a class book featuring their research and original illustrations. They recently celebrated with their 1st grade book buddies in Mrs. Detweiler’s class the accomplishment of having their book PUBLISHED! #WilsonSD

First and Second grade students at Shiloh Hills and Third grade students Conrwall Terrace were excited to be part of discoverED 2026! This statewide virtual design challenge, led by Fox Chapel Area School District, kicks off Remake Learning Days (May 1–23, 2026)—a celebration of hands-on learning for students and families across Pennsylvania.
On Tuesday, May 5, students collaborated virtually with peers from schools across the state to design and build hoop gliders inspired by the flight of a flying squirrel. In preparation for this challenge, students explored biomimicry and aerodynamics in Discovery class, learning how nature—like flying squirrels—inspires innovative design and how objects move through the air. Through this engaging STEAM experience, students were able to connect, create, and discover how collaboration and creativity can take learning to new heights! #WilsonSD

ESL students at Cornwall Terrace took learning beyond the classroom and into action this week as they proudly hosted their school’s first Pulsera Project sale! 🌎💛
The Pulsera Project is a nonprofit organization that partners with artisans in Central American countries like Guatemala and Nicaragua. These artisans handcraft colorful bracelets, called “pulseras,” and send them to schools in the U.S. for students to sell. The money raised goes directly back to these communities to support fair wages, education, healthcare, housing, and environmental initiatives.
Students worked hard to prepare, organize, and run the sale. Through this experience, they built communication and leadership skills while also learning the importance of empathy and global citizenship. Thank you to everyone who supported this meaningful cause! #WilsonSD

Second graders from Cornwall Terrace recently had an exciting opportunity to dive into the world of insects with a local entomologist from Berks Nature, kicking off their new nonfiction reading unit. This engaging, hands-on experience sparked curiosity and enthusiasm as students explored the fascinating lives of bugs.
Mr. Griffith shared intriguing insect facts, explained the important role insects play in our community, displayed real bugs, and introduced students to a variety of bug-catching tools. The lesson came alive as students ventured outdoors, collecting and closely examining insects just like real entomologists.
Thanks to this memorable experience, students are now eager and motivated to deepen their learning as they begin researching specific insects and becoming true experts! #WilsonSD
