We are aware of a document currently circulating among students that incorrectly suggests that teachers or administrators are organizing or encouraging a student walkout related to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). This information is not accurate.

Wilson School District staff do not initiate, organize, or promote student demonstrations or walkouts of any kind. Staff members are required to remain neutral and may not encourage or discourage student participation in political or social advocacy activities.

At the same time, when students independently choose to express their views, the role of school administration is to ensure that all students and staff are safe and that students can exercise their constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly in a respectful and orderly manner.

We also want to be very clear that harassment, threats, or inappropriate communication directed at staff or students — regardless of viewpoint — is not acceptable and will be addressed in accordance with school expectations and policies. Civil discourse and mutual respect are essential to maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.

If students have questions about their rights, responsibilities, or school expectations, they are encouraged to speak directly with an administrator. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping ensure that Wilson High School remains a place where differing perspectives can exist respectfully and safely.

Thank you for your attention and understanding.
