The Wilson School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Matt Bender as Director of Human Resources. Mr. Bender’s appointment was approved at the January 17 meeting of the Wilson School Board.
Mr. Bender began his professional career with the Wilson School District in 1998 as a High School social studies teacher. Mr. Bender most recently served as Assistant Principal at Wilson High School. In this role, he has supervised both professional and support staff. Under his leadership, Wilson High School has been recognized nationally as a top school by U.S. News and World Report and one of “America’s Most Challenging High Schools” by the Washington Post. Mr. Bender received his B.A. in History/ Social Studies Secondary Education from Lebanon Valley College. He received his Master of Science in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University and his Principal Certification from Alvernia University.
In his new role as Director of Human Resources, Mr. Bender will lead the Human Resources department, establish and maintain efficient procedures, recommend actions to the Superintendent for consideration and implement directives in all aspects of Human Resources management.
According to Dr. Chris Trickett, Superintendent, “Mr. Bender has spent the last 15 years as an assistant principal in the high school, where his detail-oriented temperament and commitment to students and staff members have allowed him to thrive in all facets of the work. With his strong connections and shared commitment to excellence, I am confident he will be able to hit the ground running.”
