We are pleased to share that the Wilson School Board has approved bids to move forward with two major projects: the construction of a new Lincoln Park Elementary School and the renovation of Southern Middle School.
In recent years, we have closely monitored enrollment growth and implemented temporary measures, such as portable classrooms, to address overcrowding in our elementary schools. However, it has become clear that building a sixth elementary school is essential to meet the long-term needs of our students. After careful exploration, the District determined that constructing a new, state-of-the-art facility on our Lincoln Park property is the best option for our students, staff, and families. With the expectation of breaking ground in early August, we anticipate the new school will be ready for the 2027–2028 school year.
The Southern Middle School renovation reflects our commitment to providing equitable learning experiences for all middle school students. The project includes modernized spaces, a new entrance, an updated cafeteria, and the addition of science classrooms to support 21st-century learning. This will be a three-year, phased construction project, beginning this fall.
We’re grateful for the continued support of our community and look forward to sharing progress updates as these exciting projects take shape.
