  • EXERTHON at West

During school on the half day of February 24, 2016, we will be holding our 3rd Annual EXERTHON.  Our event features 100% participation of both students and staff at West. Twenty-four different exercise stations will be held throughout the building for each session.  From jumping, to lifting, to dancing, to hunting for clues, there is something for everyone.  This event not only helps students learn about the benefits of regular physical activity and heart health, but also raises funds to support heart and stroke research.

Our goal this year is to raise $4,000 for the American Heart Association.  We are asking each student to raise $5.00 for the cause.  There are two ways to donate.  Send your donation in an envelope marked with the student's name and addressed to Mrs. Hook; or donate online.  For information and instructions to donate online click HERE.  All donations are due by March 1, 2016.

We are also selling EXERTHON t-shirts with proceeds going toward our fundraising effort. Click HERE for the order form.  Orders and CASH are due no later than February 12, 2016.

  • Trout in the Classroom

This year Wilson West is participating in Pennsylvania's Trout in the Classroom (TIC) which is a program where students in grades 3 through 12 learn about cold-water conservation while raising brook trout from eggs to fingerlings in a classroom aquarium.  There are three trout tanks in the mail lobby of West. Students have been assisting with this project by testing the water using water sampling kits, changing the water, cleaning the tanks and feeding the trout regularly. Thank you to the following sponsors for assisting West Middle School with starting Trout in the Classroom:

    • Berks Nature
    • Trout Unlimited
    • Pennsylvania Trout in the Classroom (TIC)
