Dear Wilson School Community-
The Wilson School District will not tolerate any form of hate speech or discrimination. When we become aware of this behavior, which is counter to the values and vision of our District, we will be committed to take action to investigate the situation and implement appropriate actions.
In light of the recent events both locally and nationally, we want the Wilson Community to know that as our District becomes increasingly diverse in all dimensions, we must challenge each other to do all we can to ensure that each and every member of our community is valued and respected for who they are as an individual. We must work together to acknowledge any and all grievances. We must not accept apathy, indifference or silence, otherwise we allow prejudice and intolerance to grow.
The Wilson School District is committed to engaging our students and community in meaningful dialogue and learning from one another. Our students will be looking to our District for reassurance during an already anxious and difficult time. We will need to support one another as students, staff, administration and our School Board to provide the strength of character, courage, and integrity that is needed. The Wilson School District has already begun the development of a plan to move forward to work together to increase the respect and inclusiveness of our community. Above all, we are committed to listening to our students’ voices.
Sincerely,
Dr. Richard H. Faidley, Superintendent
