It is hard to believe that the Wilson Junior/Senior Prom is this Saturday, May 3! We know that at Wilson, the prom is a community event often featuring a long procession of prom guests being dropped off to a crowd of cheering onlookers. Again this year, we want our students and community to have the same opportunity afforded to countless prom-goers in years past. Therefore, we will again follow our modified drop-off plan, designed to accommodate the construction on our high school campus.
This plan was developed in collaboration with our High School Prom Committee; please respect their wishes and follow all instructions to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
Parking for Parents/Community Members: The Bulldog Parking Lot is reserved for parents and community members. Handicap parking will be available behind Gurski Stadium. Please DO NOT park in the main High School Parking lot, which is reserved for Prom attendees ONLY.
Parking for Prom Attendees: Main High School Parking lot.
Arrival at Prom: As has been a long-standing tradition, prom attendees may choose to enter the prom via the vehicle procession. This year, a new procession route has been developed to accommodate the construction AND to allow the line to move at a quicker pace. Please follow all the instructions about the procession if you choose to participate. PLEASE NOTE: If a prom attendee is DRIVING the vehicle in the procession, you must have plans to move it to the parking lot– you MUST get out of the vehicle at the prom entrance!
If you are attending the prom AND DO NOT want to participate in the procession: Please enter the Main Parking Lot off Dwight Street, park your vehicle, and walk to the red carpet area for your entrance.
If you WANT to participate in the vehicle procession, please follow these instructions:
- The procession will begin on Grandview Boulevard in front of the Upper House main entrance (the street will be blocked off in front of the high school and administration for the vehicle procession only).
- Enter the procession off of Dwight Street ONLY. Anyone attempting to enter through another route will be redirected. You will drive to the front of the Upper House main entrance and be instructed to line up as needed.
- Vehicles will drive past the Administration building and turn left down the hill by the tennis courts. Please note that this driveway has numerous speed bumps. Depending on your vehicle, you must be extremely careful as you drive over them.
- As you approach Gurski Stadium, you will be directed to wait for instructions to pull up your vehicle so you can exit and enter the building. The entrance to the prom will be marked with a red carpet. After you exit your vehicle, be sure to have a plan to move it to the parking lot.
Viewing areas: There will be designated viewing areas for parents/ community members. Please follow all instructions regarding these spaces as we need to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and community members. The areas are indicated on the attached map.
Please note that staff and security guards will be present to provide guidance and support throughout the event.
