A Note from the Wilson School District’s School Counselors:
Dear Parents and Guardians:
During these ever-changing times, your school counselors continue to support you and your children. We’re already busy answering questions about grades, scheduling, deadlines, instruction, mental health and more. In addition, we are preparing social-emotional lessons, and lessons particularly relevant for today. We recognize that while some children are excited to be home, others are distressed, and that every person and family is experiencing this situation differently. Additionally, feelings and circumstances may change from one day to the next, With that in mind, we’ve made addressing your children’s social and emotional needs, and being a sound resource for you, a top priority.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you think we can help you in any way at all. As always, we’re happy to support you and your child. We’re checking our emails and phones regularly, and returning messages as soon as possible. Also, our Student Assistance Program is available for children and families with mental health concerns. We want to emphasize, however, that if a child is in a crisis – having suicidal thoughts, anxiety attacks, drug or alcohol abuse or any number of pressing mental health issues – you should call SAM crisis (1-877-236-4600 or 610-236-0530) or 911, or go to your local hospital emergency room immediately. Also, please consider letting your child’s school counselor know of any crisis situations.
We wish you and your loved ones good health and well-being, and look forward to the day when we are able to resume supporting your student in a traditional manner.
