Dear Wilson School District Families,
On behalf of the Wilson School District, allow me to be the first to say “welcome” to the 2019-2020 school year! Whether you are a returning family or are new to the area, we are glad that you are part of the Wilson family. We are all excited to embark on another opportunity to work together to fulfill our mission to “empower our students to create their own future.”
I hope that all of you had the opportunity to relax and rejuvenate throughout the summer months. Personally, I had the opportunity to spend time with my family and do some travelling. I especially enjoyed going to Virginia, where I had the opportunity to attend some amazing music festivals and play my guitar with some great musicians. I also traveled to Baltimore and Pittsburgh and visited some fun family attractions! We have been hard at work this summer preparing for the return of our students and professional staff. Our facilities team took care of some needed upgrades to our buildings and grounds, including paving our parking lots and installing new lighting to provide better security for our students and staff. You also may have noticed a lot happening near our high school campus this summer. We replaced the roof on the Lower House building and worked closely with PPL as they worked on their project to build a new underground transmission line. This work and other road improvement projects did result in road closures near our property throughout the summer months. We have been assured that all roads will be open by the start of school and our transportation routes will not be impacted.
This summer we also announced the appointment of new administrators. Dr. Stacey Stoudt was appointed as Assistant Superintendent for Elementary and Mr. Christopher Trickett was appointed as Assistant Superintendent for Secondary. As a result of the appointments of Dr. Stoudt and Mr. Trickett, new principals were named for Whitfield Elementary School and Wilson High School. Ms. Jennifer L. Joiner was named principal of Whitfield Elementary School and Dr. Daniel Weber was named principal of Wilson High School. We welcome each of these fine educators to their new roles with the District!
Along with the incredible team of educators and staff at the Wilson School District, I want to thank you for putting your trust in us to provide your children with a first-class education. We look forward to working with you throughout the school year and I encourage you to reach out to me if you ever have any questions or concerns. We can’t wait to see you on August 26!
Dr. Richard H. Faidley, Superintendent
