As of March 13, 2020, the Berks County school districts have determined that they will be closing schools from March 16 through March 27, 2020. At this point, we will be resuming school on March 30, 2020; however, we will continue to monitor the updates from the Governor’s office, the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
This means that the Wilson School District will be closed for all students, including Berkshire Heights Early Learning Center and our Before and After School program, from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27.
We recognize that for many in our community our schools provide a necessary source of food for our students during the week. In an unexpected school closing, this may cause some families to experience food insecurity. In order to continue to support our families over the next two weeks, the district is offering bagged meals to students at one of five locations throughout our district, beginning Monday, March 16.
West Lawn UMC – main parking lot next to the education building
Sinking Spring Borough Library – back parking lot
Whitfield Elementary School – student drop off
Lincoln Park Pool – in front
Cornwall Terrace/Southern complex – out back at red canopy
Our staff will be stationed at each of these locations between the hours of 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27, to distribute a bagged lunch and breakfast serving to each student. Students of all ages should report to the location closest to their neighborhood to pick up their meals.
The health and well-being of our students is our utmost concern, and we continue to look for ways to support our families during this time.
