Wilson School District, in conjunction with i-SAFE America, Web Wise Kids, and NetsmartzKids is helping to raise awareness of the issues children face online and to provide proactive solutions. i-SAFE America is a non-profit organization dedicated to educating youth to safely and responsibly take control of their internet experience. Our goal is to provide awareness and knowledge to students to enable them to recognize and avoid dangerous, destructive, and unlawful online behavior, and to know how to respond appropriately.
Steps Wilson School District is taking:
  • Cyber-Predator lesson and follow-up discussion with 5th, 6th, 7th grades taught by Deb Chestnut using i-SAFE"s curriculum.
  • Parent Workshop on January 16, 2007, October 25th, 2007, February 26, 2008
  • Other Parent Workshops to follow.
  • Internet Safety follow ups through Computer Applications classes and Librarians
  • All 7th Graders are "playing" the video game Missing, covering all aspects of online safety in their Computer Apps class.
  • Internet Safety lessons with Officer Jim Surgeoner
