We are excited to offer the Watch D.O.G.S. program again this year at Shiloh Hills!
Watch D.O.G.S (Dads of Great Students) is a national initiative to encourage fathers and other male family members to become involved in school and the education of their children. This program is a great way for Dads to see what a day at school is really like, to connect with their children and most importantly, to be a positive role model for all students in our building.
When a dad volunteers to be a Watch D.O.G.S, he will automatically be placed with his child or children for recess and lunch, their daily Special and one 40 minute block of time in their child’s homeroom. The rest of the day will be spent rotating through other classrooms of varying grade levels where he will be an extra set of hands and eyes for the teachers. Word work, flash cards, helping with experiments or listening to a student read are just some examples of things he might be asked to do throughout the day. A school lunch is provided at no cost to him. We ask that you sign up for only one date during the school year.
WSD requires all volunteers in our district to obtain clearances. These clearances MUST be in hand prior to any volunteer date in our school. The PA Child Abuse History Clearance and the PA Criminal Background Check are both valid for 5 years and are available at no cost to you as a volunteer. Per updated guidelines, ALL VOLUNTEERS are required to submit an FBI Criminal Clearance. The fee for this finger printing service is $24.40.
If you are interested in signing up to be a Watch D.O.G.S. volunteer, the sign up calendar can be found here:
