We are excited to offer the WATCH D.O.G.S. program again this year at Shiloh Hills!
WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads of Great Students) is a national initiative to encourage fathers and other male family members to become involved in school and the education of their children. This program is a great way for dads to see what a day at school is really like and to connect with their children and most importantly, to be a POSITIVE role model for all students in our building.
When a dad signs up to be a WATCH D.O.G.S. volunteer, he will automatically be placed with his child at lunch, the daily special and a 45 minute block of time in his child’s classroom. The rest of the day will be spent rotating through other classrooms of various grade levels where he will be an extra set of hands and eyes for the teachers. Word work, flash cards, helping with experiments or listening to a student read are some examples of things he might be asked to do throughout the day. A school lunch is provided at not cost to all dads.
WSD requires all volunteers to obtain clearances. Clearances MUST be on hand prior to any date chosen in our school. The PA Child Abuse History clearance and the PA Criminal Background Check are valid for 5 years and are available at no cost to you. If you have lived outside of PA in the last 10 years, you will also need to obtain an FBI Criminal clearance.
Please click here for information and links to obtain the following clearances:
- Act 34 PA State Police Criminal History Background Clearance – SAMPLE CERTIFICATE
- Act 151 Federal Child Abuse History Clearance – SAMPLE CERTIFICATE
- Read School Board Policy #916 and sign Wilson School District Volunteer Acknowledgement form
