At the February 22, 2022 board meeting, our Board voted to approve revisions to the District’s Health and Safety Plan. The revisions are based on updated information regarding local transmission data, district case counts, and feedback from local medical professionals.
The key recommendation in the updated plan is to shift to recommended but optional masking for all preK-12 buildings (including Wilson Preschool at Berkshire Heights), classrooms and district transportation effective at the end of the school day on Friday, February 25, with exceptions in a few specific circumstances:
- Individuals who test positive and are returning from isolation after day 5 should continue to mask on days 6-11.
- Individuals experiencing symptoms who report to the nurse office for assessment should be masked in the District’s health rooms.
In addition, the district will stop temperature checks upon entering buildings and will cease contact tracing and quarantine for asymptomatic individuals who could be considered a close contact to a positive case. You can view the revised version of the plan HERE. We will continue to update our COVID dashboard on a regular basis as well.
Please note that the reason we are waiting until the end of the school day on Friday, February 25th to make the changes to our Health and Safety Plan is to give our community, especially those who are medically fragile, the time to determine how they will move forward in a mask-optional educational environment.
We want to thank the entire community for your ongoing support during this challenging time.
