FREE & REDUCED MEALS PROGRAM
The Wilson Food Service Program is available to every child. If a student’s family is unable to afford the price of a meal they are encouraged to complete an application for the Free & Reduced Meals. The application is available online at www.compass.state.pa.us . We recommend that you use the online resource mentioned because the processing time is faster. (We do have 10 business days to complete the processing of both online and paper applications.) A paper application can be obtained from the school building office, or by contacting the Food Service Office at 610-670-0180 extension 1148. The application can be completed at any time during the year, and another application can be submitted during the year if there is a change. Anytime an additional application is submitted during the school year, documentation is required to be sent along with the application to substantiate the change. The Food Service Office will send you a letter informing you of the final determination of your application. Until you receive such notification you will need to make arrangements to pack your child’s meals or provide adequate funds for meal purchases.
Some families qualify for the Free & Reduced Meals program through Direct Certification. If you are receiving social/medical services through the Federal or State Government you may already qualify for the meals program. There is no need to fill out a Free & Reduced Meals Program Application if you qualify through Direct Certification. Once our office receives notice that a family qualifies through Direct Certification we will send you a letter informing you of the same.
Note: If your child was Free or Reduced in the previous school year, he/she will remain in that status until September 30th of this school year. If you have not been notified that your child qualifies for free meals through Direct Certification or you have not filed a new application for the 2017-18 meals program, your child will become FULL PAID on October 1st. Again you need to make arrangements to pack your child’s meals or provide adequate funds for meal purchases.
