Today at 11:30 am, our High School office received a phone call from an unidentified individual claiming that they were coming to “shoot up the school.” Our administrative team immediately followed our protocols and placed the high school on lockdown in place as well as our Whitfield Elementary School and began an investigation. Central administration and local police were notified. Police immediately responded to the building to provide added security for our students and staff, and are currently stationed around the perimeter of our building. All students currently at home on open campus will need to remain at home.
Also, at this time there is an ambulance at the High School on our campus for an unrelated medical emergency.
At this time, all students and staff are secure within our high school buildings. We are working quickly and collaboratively to resolve the situation. Please do not come to the High School campus until further notice. We will notify the students, staff, and community immediately when the lockdown in place has been lifted.
