As a School District, the health and safety of our students and staff remains our top priority. We have been communicating with you weekly about the status of our instructional delivery models. We are proud of our staff and students for adhering to our Health and Safety protocols. These efforts have contributed to the Wilson School District not seeing a transmission of the virus in our school buildings. Building and District data continue to be updated daily on our website. However, we do know that interactions outside of the school building increase the likelihood of transmission and increased positivity in our community and surrounding areas.
Our leadership team has been proactively planning for the upcoming holidays, when it appears likely that families will gather, which may further increase the risk of COVID-19 spread in our community. As we consider these factors, we decided to make modifications to our instructional delivery models after our scheduled holiday breaks to reduce the risk of transmission. We are providing this information to our community so that families can make the necessary plans for this modification.
November 23 and November 24:
- There will be NO SCHOOL for Elementary Students; this time will be used by staff to make final preparations for remote learning after the break. Virtual parent/ teacher conferences will proceed as scheduled.
- Secondary Students’ schedules will not change. They will have remote half days on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24 and will be off until Tuesday, December 1.
December 1 – December 4: All students (K-12) in the Wilson School District will participate in remote learning. Specific details regarding elementary schedules will be communicated in a separate communication.
December 7: All students in the Wilson School District will return to their selected model of instruction.
December 23 – January 3: No school for students due to the Winter Holiday.
January 4 – 8: All students (K-12) in the Wilson School District will participate in remote learning.
January 11: All students in the Wilson School District will return to their selected model of instruction.
As a reminder, we need your ongoing support to help to keep everyone safe. Please keep your children home should they show any symptoms from this screening checklist. Other key factors include the wearing of masks properly (covering both the nose and mouth), as well as maintaining 6 feet of social distance at all times. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Wilson School District during these challenging times.
