We are pleased to announce that Governor Tom Wolf recently announced his plan to provide universal free school breakfast for 1.7 million students across the commonwealth beginning October 1, 2022, and running through the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
The Universal Free Breakfast Program is available to ALL Wilson students, regardless of whether or not they qualify for free or reduced meals.
Please note that nothing will change regarding how we serve breakfast to our students. They can continue to go through the serving line as they do now and any meals that they take will be recorded on their account at no charge. If students choose to take an a la carte breakfast item, they will be charged accordingly. Only full meals qualify for the free breakfast program.
The Wilson School District is grateful for the opportunity to help ensure that every student starts their day with a healthy, nutritious meal. We know that research supports that a child who starts the day with breakfast is more likely to be at school, has improved concentration, and is more willing to participate in the classroom.
