This year marks the 16th annual Season of Sharing Campaign supporting the Greater Berks Food Bank, helping to feed those in need right here in Berks County. Over the last 14 years, CT students rallied to motivate community members to donate canned food; purchase candy grams with hand-made greetings; participate in a Penny War contest; and contribute money for gift certificates. For every dollar donated, the Greater Berks Food Bank is able to secure $20 worth of food through its supply network to give to families in need.
Since Cornwall Terrace started Season of Sharing in 2003 to honor our pioneer and CT teacher, Mrs. Rickards; we have donated a combined 28,000 pounds or more than 14 tons of food to the Greater Berks Food Bank. Last year, we collected $1,437.20 – or $28,744 worth of food – in monetary contributions and 1,716 pounds of food. We wanted to make a difference in the lives of many families in Berks County, and we did!
It takes a lot of teamwork to make something this remarkable happen, and the fruits of our labor show that Cornwall Terrace is not just a school that says they care; they are a school that proves it. So as we near the kickoff of the 15th annual Season of Sharing Campaign, keep your eyes peeled for the many different ways you can choose to participate!
Spirit Days: We’ve “upped our game” this year and created a spirit day for EVERY day in December! Please know that students are NOT required to bring a can to school every day in order to participate. Our goal is to increase the awareness of the Season of Sharing campaign and create more opportunities to donate, if you “can.” See the list below or on the CT website calendar.
Candy Grams: Students may purchase Candy Grams at lunch. The cost is $ .50 each Candy Gram. They will be available for purchase through Wednesday, December 19. Click here to print, complete, and return the form and payment to Mrs. Choate.
Penny Wars: Soon, there will be boxes in the lobby with the names of some teachers and staff members. Students may “vote” for the teacher or staff member who they would like to see pied at the Season of Sharing Assembly by putting loose change in that teacher or staff member’s box.
Holiday Gifts: Why not cross a few gifts off your shopping list by making a monetary donation in the name of a friend, relative, teacher, or student to the Cornwall Terrace Season of Sharing? Click here to print, complete, and return this form to Mrs. Wagner by Wednesday, December 19. A “To” and “From” space will be provided on the voucher for you to fill out.
