Dear Cornwall Terrace families,
The week of October 28-November 1 is National Red Ribbon Week. The Red Ribbon campaign is a national effort to encourage students to practice healthy life styles and anti-drug habits. Red Ribbons will be disbursed to each child and students will hear Healthy Lifestyle announcements throughout the week.
In an effort to increase school-wide participation and add a little fun to the program, a theme will be incorporated into each day of the week. Parents, please encourage your child/children to wear their red ribbons (which will be distributed in classrooms on Monday, October 28) and to follow the theme days below! At the end of the week 10 names will be randomly selected – if the children who are picked still have their red ribbon at the end of the week, they get to pick a prize!
- Monday 10/28- Voting for a healthy future (WEAR RED, WHITE, & BLUE)
- Tuesday 10/29- Don’t get TIED into drugs (WEAR TIE DYE)
- Wednesday 10/30- Doing drugs is wacky (WACKY CLOTHES OR HAIR)
- Thursday 10/31- “Fall-ow” healthy habits (WEAR FALL FESTIVE CLOTHES)
- Friday 11/1- Team up to be drug free (WEAR CLASS COLOR SHIRTS)
Thank you for your support!
PARENTS- DID YOU KNOW? Children of parents who talk to their teens regularly about drugs are 42% less likely to use drugs than those who don’t; yet, only a quarter of teens report having these conversations. Red Ribbon Week® (October 23-31), the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the nation, is your opportunity to get the ongoing conversation started. This year’s theme is Send A Message. Stay Drug Free.™ Visit www. redribbon.org to learn more about Red Ribbon Week® and get tips for talking to your kids about drugs. The life you save may be that of your own child or a dear friend.
