Yesterday, January 21, we sent a communication to our high school families regarding a medical lockdown and police activity that occurred at the high school involving a student (communication is included below). We felt that it was important to provide a follow-up communication regarding this incident to our entire District family as a point of clarification.
The unfortunate event yesterday was initiated by the police arriving to take a student into custody. The police met the student in the back section of the main office, in a hallway that students do not have access to. The situation was not visible to students or staff. The police found a small, plastic replica of a gun in his coat pocket as he was escorted to the police car. At no time during this incident were our staff or students in danger. We will continue to work with law enforcement on this issue and continue to update our community as necessary.

Today at approximately 11:45 am the Upper House was placed on medical lockdown as the result of a situation that occurred in the high school office. This situation resulted in the need to contact local law enforcement in an effort to ensure that the situation was handled as quickly as possible. At no time was there any threat to students or staff. The situation was resolved and the medical lockdown was lifted at 12:15 pm. As always, our students and staff handled this medical lockdown as per our protocol and should be commended.
