What does a practice entail?
The coaching staff will do some conditioning, teach skills on deck to ensure proper ball-handling skills, run drills to help each athlete learn the right way to pass and catch the ball, and put the athletes in small game situations. We want this to be a FUN FUN FUN introduction to Water Polo so we do move slowly and spend most of our practice in the shallow area of the pool.
Toward the end of our season, we will put together a showcase event and have the athletes scrimmage in a full pool-style event!
It is important that each child come prepared for practice with a swimsuit, towel, cap (for those with long hair these can be purchased in the pool office for $5.00), and goggles. Typically Water Polo is not played with goggles but we will allow the children to use them if we’re doing extended amounts of swimming.
The locker rooms will not be available for use after practices.
We ask athletes to come dressed in their suits and be prepared to leave practice without using the locker room to change. Athletes can keep their bags on the pool deck during practice.
The cost of this program is $50.00 (residents) and $60.00 (non-residents) all checks are made payable to The Wilson School District.
(E fund payment options will be open on Sept. 1, 2022)
