As part of the implementation of Act 82 and its Educator Effectiveness System, school districts across the Commonwealth are required to enact the practice of Student Learning Objectives (SLO) as a relative portion of an educators overall evaluation. In the 2016-2017 school year, we will continue to develop our practice in the use of SLO’s as it relates to our specific roles and departments. The timeline below presents the various development steps that will guide our progress through this school year.
Student Learning Objective (SLO) Timeline for the 2016-17 School Year
August – October 2016: Closeout Teacher Effectiveness ratings from 2015-16 data and build 2016-17 SLO drafts for review, feedback, and revision.
November 2016 – March 2017: Review progress of work through on-going professional development work done in aforementioned forums. Identify additional needs for development in assessment and instructional practice.
April – June 2017: Collect data and identify achievement of SLO’s for the Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation. Review the SLO process for feedback and revision suggestions for the 2017-2018 school year.
