  • Designated School Zones
With the school year fast approaching, we want to remind all of our families about the importance of observing the reduced speed limit of 15 MPH in designated School Zones.  Please Click Here to view the maps of each school zone location by building as well as the applicable time frames.

Also, we want all our Wilson families to be aware of school bus safety. Please take a moment to review this Video to ensure you are current on the laws regarding passing a school bus as well as how to properly approach a school bus driver. The safety and security of our students is our top priority!

  • New District Website Update!

The Wilson School District continues to make significant progress with the development of our new website.  The original launch date of August, 2017 was very aggressive due to the extreme complexity of our existing site.  To put it in perspective, our current site has over 4,000 pages of content and to develop the streamlined approach we feel is best for the end user, our staff has been working for months to edit that content down to 1,500 pages.  It has been an overwhelming, yet important task and we are very pleased with all of the hard work our team has accomplished!

Although we could have rolled out a site with limited functionality in the August time frame, after consulting with our website partner, Launch DM, we determined that the best course of action for our community was to delay the launch so that we did not initially provide a website that would frustrate the end user.

According to Launch DM creator and founder, Rob Wolf, "There are many dimensions of complexity and unpredictability when replacing a website that has been in existence for 15 years.  Every project has goals, but when presented with complications and the question of whether to cut corners or do the right thing, our approach is always to do what is right and deliver a product that will benefit our clients.  In this case, history is at fault, due to the sheer magnitude of intricacies involved with cataloging, coordinatng and reconstructing 15 years of data into something that is beautiful, functional and efficient.  Ultimately, the teachers, the administration and the Wilson community will benefit for many years through increased efficiency, reduced costs and improvement of communications."

We are anticipating our new site will launch during the first quarter of the school year.  We will continue to provide updates as we aproach the launch date.
