• Valentines for Vets Community Service

It’s that time of year again…time to offer community members a unique opportunity to show your appreciation and support to the men and women who fought to preserve the freedom that we all enjoy every day by participating in the Valentines for Vets Community Service Activity!

To participate, enlist your children to design and decorate as many Valentines - in as many languages - as you would like and deliver to Krista Steffy in the CT Office by Monday, 2/6/2017.  The more Valentines, the better!  We welcome Valentines from students; families; groups or organizations such as Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts; or from anyone!  Please share this wonderful opportunity with your friends and family.

One important item to note is the Veterans’ hospitals have requested all designers use glitter, sequins, etc... sparingly.

Your efforts truly make such an impact. When we collect and distribute these Valentines, it send a message of pride and goodwill.  They are treasured.   Valentines are welcomed from students, families, groups or organizations, such as Boys Scouts and Girl Scouts…from everyone! Please share this opportunity with your friends and family.

Please email Krista with any questions at

  • 2017 Crime Alert Berks County Poster Contest

Crime Alert Berks County is sponsoring a poster contest for all 4th and 5th graders in public and parochial schools.  This is an important civic event that educates our students about the importance of families, respects police officers, and helps make our county and communities safer places to live.

The Together We Make A Family theme is designed to make students aware that their family is a safe place where they can be themselves, a place where they are protected from bad things in their lives.  It’s a place where they can get advice from a parent, older brother, older sister, and feel loved.

The winning poster design will be printed large and in full color displayed in stores and businesses all over Berks County and it will be posted on 10 billboards throughout the county.

The class of the winning entry will get treated on May 18 to a night at Slick Willies/The Works with free ice cream and refreshments.  The winners will get to race go carts on the track.

    1st prize - Xbox One

2nd prize - $300 Gift certificate to The Works

3rd prize - $100 Gift certificate to HobbyTownUSA

All interested 4th and 5th graders must sign up at Mrs. VanOstenbridge's office to receive an official entry form, which will be distributed the end of January.  Contact Mrs. V at with questions.
