At Wilson, the school psychologists are part of the Special Education Department. The Special Education Department and staff offices, including the school psychologist's offices, are located on the third floor of the Administration Building on Grandview Boulevard. There are currently 4 full time school psychologists and one school psychologist intern. WSD school psychologist's primary role is assessment. School psychologists are assigned to school buildings and each school psychologist is responsible for initial evaluations and re-evaluations in his or her building assignment. Students are referred for multidisciplinary evaluations by their teachers or their parents due academic or behavioral concerns. Students may also be referred for an evaluation if they demonstrate academic need for enrichment beyond the regular curriculum. School psychologists serve as chairperson of the multidisciplinary team. For more information about the Wilson Special Education Department or information about how to request an evaluation

Resources
The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) represents more than 24,000 school psychologists and other practitioners who serve the educational and mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families. NASP provides information for members, teachers, parents and other interested parties. The NASP web site offers useful information for nonmembers and members alike. There are informative handouts for teachers, parents and families. You may have received one of these handouts from one of the Wilson School District's school psychologists. We routinely provide parents and teachers with information about psychological evaluations, and other topics such as: retention, promotion, academic difficulties, behavior concerns, instruction and curriculum. If we do not know the answer to your question, then we know where to find it. After all, we are trained in consultation and research. If you would like to view information about school psychologists and what we do, go to the NASP web site click here.
